Red Sox’ Offense Finally Wakes Up In 11-1 Win Over Twins (VIDEOS)
The Red Sox beat the Twins 11-1 Thursday in what was their best offensive performance so far this season.
The game was scoreless after one, and would remain that way until Twins’ pitcher Nick Tepesch nailed down the first two outs in the top of the second.
Then the Sox’ bats exploded. With two down in the inning, they somehow managed to rack up eight runs. They tagged Tepesch for six thanks to a solo homer by Chris Young, a three-run double by Dustin Pedroia, and a two-run double for Andrew Benintendi.
After Tepesch was pulled for Drew Rucinski, Boston put up two more on an RBI single by Hanley Ramirez and yet another RBI double by Mitch Moreland aka Mitchy Two Bags before finally recording the third out. They never looked back, riding a great start by Rick Porcello (7.0 IP, 1 ER, 6 K’s) and cruising to an easy win.
Chris Young hit his second solo shot of the game in the fifth, Josh Rutledge hit an RBI single in the seventh, and Sandy Leon hit his second home run of the year in the ninth to finish off the 11-1 rout.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. The Sox were able to avoid falling to .500, and the only reason they’re in that position is because of their struggles at the plate. We’ll see if they can carry the momentum on Sunday afternoon. First pitch at 2:10.
