Andrew Benintendi Homers Twice In Sox’ Bounce-Back Win Over Yankees
Andrew Benintendi continued his Rookie Of The Year campaign on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. The Sox were looking to bounce back from a 5-4 loss to the Yanks the night before, and the 23 year-old had the answer. A three-run homer in the third broke the 2-2 tie, and another one in the 5th extended the lead to 8-3:
After driving in six runs, Benintendi now has the third most RBI’s among rookies with 65. More importantly, he may have officially put the Sox in the AL East driver’s seat. The recent 8-game winning streak was enough to convince most people that they had finally hit their stride. But there were a select few pessimists who believed they weren’t legitimate because they hadn’t proven they could beat the Yankees. That argument was strengthened on Friday night when the streak came to an end in New York. But thanks to Benny Baseball’s clutch performance, a win on Sunday night can put that idea to rest.
