Celtics Lose Two Huge Games In A Row

NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Boston Celtics

I said before their match-up with the Hawks on Saturday night that the Celtics were about to play their three biggest games of the year.

After a loss to the Hornets Monday night, they’re now 0-2 in those games.  For a team that’s played so great in big games this year, they’ve certainly letting us down right now.  They’ve already choked away the three seed and the four could be next if they don’t get their shit together and grab a win against Miami.

When asked about the C’s performance Monday in his post game press conference, Brad Stevens said bluntly, “We laid an 8 minute egg at the end of the second quarter and we couldn’t come back from it.”

That pretty much sums it up.  The Celtics were up by four at the end of the first quarter before being outscored 39-13 in the second.

Depending on several circumstances, they’ll either end up fourth, fifth, or sixth in the East.  Obviously holding onto the four spot would be key so they can at least maintain home court advantage.

Wednesday’s match-up against the Heat at the Garden is essentially a playoff game when you consider how important it is.
