Former Patriot great Vince Wilfork announced his retirement Monday after 13 seasons in the NFL.  As an avid barbecue fan, he broke the news by releasing a video that was not only an ad for Kingsford charcoal, but an invitation to “Vince’s Farewell Tailgate”.  The celebration will take place at Gillette on September 7th.

Big Vince had a big impact on a lot of people during his time in New England.  Teammates and fans alike have never uttered a single bad word about the 6’2″, 325-pound nose tackle who’s smile could light up a room.  There’s simply nothing negative to say.

At practice on Tuesday, Julian Edelman spoke on his personal relationship with Vince and his family and the influence that he had on him during their days as teammates:

Wilfork leaves the game as a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion.  Whether or not he ends up in the Hall Of Fame remains to be seen, but ask anyone in New England and they’ll tell you he deserves it.
