Patriots playoff hopes begin to slip away after uninspiring loss to Rams

Quite a contrast from last week’s 45-0 win over the Chargers.  The Rams are a much better opponent and the Pats only had four days to recover, but that doesn’t excuse the drop-off in production.

Cam was flatout terrible.  I love the guy as a person and a leader, but this is getting hard to watch.  That pick-six was inexcusable.  His inability to feel pressure from his blindside is extremely frustrating, he doesn’t know when to throw the ball away, and the majority of his throws are either too high or too low.  He hangs receivers out to dry and has far too many balls batted down for someone who’s 6’5”.  Unfortunately Stidham probably isn’t much better, so Bill is likely to stick with Newton.

The defense was half asleep on the first drive after shutting out the other LA team a few days prior.  They settled down as the game progressed, but they needed to be perfect to win this one.

The Patriots have now lost seven games for the first time since 2002 and their playoff hopes are slim to none.  They’ll attempt to rekindle their spirit when they take on the 8-4 Dolphins in Miami next Sunday afternoon.
